In Mirando al Sur we show the town of Jaen from a different perspective and teach you all the secrets that hides an endearing and unknown environment.

The city of Jaén has a terrain very interesting from the point of view of hiking and mountaineering. Is a city located near the mountains, on the north side find seas of olive trees, typical landscape of our province and its south side found the Sierra Sur de Jaén and Jabalcuz peak (1614 m), a few kilometres from the city .

Santa Catalina’s Castle, emblematic building of the city, is located on the top of a mountain, the Santa Catalina’s peak (820 m).

In Facing South we offer you the chance to walk the paths of small and large tour that run through the mountains surrounding the city and experience the sense of freedom climbing our walls. You will always accompanied by our guides, who always make your hiking or climbing  experience unforgettable.

Guided Route 1: Around the Santa Catalina’s Castle. Very simple and short walk (1h30'-2h) where we will enjoy a nice walk around the Santa Catalina’s Castle at the same time we will enjoy spectacular views of the city. During the tour, our guides will make an interpretation of the environment (cultural, geographical points of interest, historical data, etc..).

Guided Route 2: Ascent to “La Mella”. Easy route with average duration (3-4h). We will pass through a pine forest to reach a vantage point where we will contemplate the contrast between the city, the olive groves, Mágina mountains and its villages. During the tour, our guides will make an interpretation of the environment (cultural, geographical points of interest, historical data, etc..).

For Guided tours and Baptism of climbing the payment will be made in cash to the guide at the beginning of the activity.
